'De Meesterschapsmaatschappij', is an ongoing exhibition at Maritiem Museum Rotterdam. The 10 meter wide piece is a panoramic allegory of what labour could look like in the future of Rotterdam. The exhibition was curated and conceptualized by Edwin Gardner and Christiaan Fruneaux from Studio Monnik.

 

Before starting on the final drawing, I sketched numerous different versions over the course of a month, to experiment with different ideas and compositions. I also did a couple close-up sketches of isolated characters, vehicles and buildings and set-dressing elements before committing to the final drawing, to help us find the right tone and style.
